This is a fixed term contract for 2 years.
The BSB encourages flexible working and this role would be suitable for candidates who want to work flexibly.
The Bar Standards Board (BSB) regulates barristers in England and Wales in the public interest. We set the education and training requirements for becoming a barrister, including ongoing requirements to ensure that barristers’ skills are maintained throughout their careers. We also set standards of conduct, monitor the quality of service provided, handle complaints and take disciplinary and other action where appropriate.
Barristers work at the heart of our justice system and our mission is of critical importance to the maintenance of the rule of law. This is an exciting time to join the organisation as we deliver an ambitious three year strategy: to regulate in the public interest, support those we regulate to face the future and ensure there is a strong and sustainable regulator for the Bar.
We are looking to recruit a programme manager to deliver our Future Bar Training programme. This is a high profile and complex programme which will transform the way in which we regulate entry into the profession, making education and training requirements for barristers more flexible, accessible and affordable whilst maintaining and sustaining quality. So if you are an experienced programme manager with a track record of successfully leading and delivering projects and programmes, if you enjoy working on programmes of national importance, if you have an interest in higher education and professional training, and if you want to help shape the future regulatory environment for legal services, then we want to hear from you!
Candidates will have an excellent understanding of formal programme and project management methodology, first class oral and written communication skills, good planning skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines and to work well within a team.
In return the Bar Standards Board offers excellent terms and conditions of employment, including:
Up to 31 days annual leave
Up to 14% employer’s pension contribution
Enhanced maternity and paternity pay
Life cover, and more
