Under the supervision of the Public Health Business Manager, carry out independent and objective assurance activities. To help the County Council achieve its objectives by adopting a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluating and reporting, both orally and in writing, on the effectiveness of the control environment as a contribution to the proper, economic, efficient and effective use of resources.
Review, appraise and report upon systems, controls and procedures to ensure that they are efficient, economic and effective.
To assess options for improvements to the control environment and make recommendations to managers that are practical, cost effective, evidence based and prioritised based on risk.
Assist with research, analysis and reporting of financial and management information.
Contribute to the review and development of the effectiveness of services, systems, processes and records, suggesting improvements to ensure best value for stakeholders and customers.
Support and advise budget managers in managing, monitoring and reporting on financial performance and provide financial forecasts
Effective communication skills (both oral and written).
Competent user of common ICT applications e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook.
Ability to work on own initiative, manage conflicting work priorities flexibly and undertake assignments within agreed time allocations.
Competent user of common ICT applications, such as, Word, Excel, Outlook or equivalents
Ability to organise and prioritise work effectively for oneself and others, to plan action in order to meet deadlines and to maintain high standards at all times.
Ability to produce clear and concise numerical and written reports, including the ability to simplify and explain complex data.
Ability to use own initiative in understanding and completing tasks. Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular of excel spreadsheets and their application
Use of and ability to interrogate SAP finance database
