Lead the United Kingdom into a new era…

Having a lead responsibility for the food, farming and fishing industries as well as the protection of the environment, Defra (the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) is crucial to the wellbeing of the nation. Providing responses to natural threats and hazards, we support the rural economy and are committed to remaining at the forefront of innovation. As the UK faces a period of change during the exit from the European Union, Defra has created a Programme Management Office to support the way in which we approach and develop new policies. Developing relationships with a variety of stakeholders, planners and senior managers, you will lead on all elements of these projects, ensuring they are meeting their objectives, allocating workloads and identifying areas and outputs that need support. With at least five years of experience in a Programme/Project Planning role in a complex organisation in which you used planning tools and utilised the relevant methodologies, your natural leadership skills will prove crucial to the success of the team. You will need fantastic communication and influencing skills, and you will also have good knowledge of creating and analysing PivotChart data and formulas. It would also be ideal if you are competent in VBA programming, Excel, MS Project (2010 or 2013) and have the creativity to adapt planning information to the relevant audience. A collaborative team-player, you will be at the heart of some of the most important projects within Defra.
