In our opinion, Westminster is the most exciting borough in London. Home to the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square, beautiful architecture and a rich history prove to be an irresistible draw to the thousands of people who visit every single day. But Westminster is so much more than a tourist hot spot – it’s also a major commercial hub and home to thousands of proud Londoners. We are therefore committed to making this fantastic corner of London a unique place in which to live, work and visit – with the services and facilities in place to support that.
In order to make this vision a reality, we have created a team to inspire major change within the organisation. As such, when you join the Corporate Strategy & Transformation (CST) team within our Policy, Performance and Communications Directorate, you can expect the unexpected. Quite simply, our remit is to provide the best possible services for our communities, which means we’re working on a variety of exciting transformation programmes to look at the way we do things – and see how we can improve.
Supporting the work of the team that is defining, designing and implementing this transformation, you will:
- Construct a comprehensive overview of our existing services by talking to a variety of stakeholders such as the frontline teams and the staff who are making plans for the future.
- Undertake comprehensive research on our existing services, analysing information and drawing conclusions from a variety of information sources. You will then present these as written reports.
- Seek out opportunities for joint working and strategic alignment in order to make the best use of resources.
- Come up with creative ideas to help us achieve better services, sharing your findings with council colleagues.
- Inspire results by influencing and negotiating with internal and external partners.
To make the most of this fast-paced role, you will have the ability to adapt to the changing needs of our communities. With a strong interest in how implementing change and transformation can improve the outcomes for our local people, you will balance and manage your own workload and achieve results. You will also have excellent communication skills, with the confidence to work with staff of all levels, and you will be educated to a higher-level apprenticeship or degree standard in a relevant discipline, or you will have a suitable professional qualification.
With excellent quantitative and qualitative research and analytical skills, your sharp eye for detail will prove essential when noting the small details that could ultimately lead to a big change. If you have previous experience of developing strategies across an organisation, that would be ideal but isn’t strictly necessary. You’ll also be competent in the use of Microsoft Office, including O365 and SharePoint and will be able to hit the ground running.
There is real scope to develop your skills and pursue your ambitions in this department, so if you’re enthusiastic about working across a fast-paced multidisciplinary team, then this is the role for you.
If you’re as productive as you are ambitious and collaborative as you are enterprising, this is your chance to take real ownership of your work, right in the heart of iconic Westminster, a true ‘City for All’. This is a unique place where it all happens. And where it could all happen for you.
As a progressive and innovative organisation, we welcome applications from candidates keen on working in an agile environment with flexible conditions.
