Ofgem is committed to making a positive difference for energy consumers through effective regulation of the market and close working with suppliers to ensure sustainable energy for consumers and businesses in the UK.

The Consumers and Markets Directorate empowers and protects consumers and facilitates vigorous and disruptive competition. Within the directorate, the Switching Programme is one of Ofgem’s top priorities, delivering a Government objective to improve switching for consumers. As Head of Switching Delivery, you’ll drive delivery of the programme through the enactment phase and the design, build and test period. Working closely with a host of delivery partners, you’ll maintain coherence across the diverse programme of activity, providing leadership and strategic direction. It’s a broad, varied and challenging remit that will see you co-ordinating the introduction of new switching arrangements across more than 60 organisations, ensuring that the delivery recognises the requirements and constraints of all delivery partners and that implementation is synchronised.

To succeed, you’ll need a strong track record of success in delivering complex, multi-party technology change programmes against challenging deadlines. You’ll be responsible for several high-stakes workstreams, so we’re looking for evidence that you can establish and maintain effective and efficient processes that will drive the programme through to completion and deliver against time, quality and budgetary measures. Experience in risk and issue identification is vital, along with solid experience of managing and resolving complex and distributed delivery and reputational risks. We also expect you to bring knowledge of best-practice testing approaches and seasoned expertise in data management and data migration. Previous experience of running large scale procurement and contract management is essential.

Ofgem can offer you a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, which includes:

  • Up to 30 days’ annual leave
  • Excellent training and development opportunities
  • The opportunity to join the Civil Service pension arrangements, which include a valuable range of benefits
  • Flexible working hours and family friendly policies
  • Subsidised gym and restaurant
  • Interest free season ticket loan.

Closing date: midnight, 25th June 2018.
