The Research and Development department are currently seeking a Technical Project Manager to join their busy team in their Biggin Hill office.

Main Duties will include but not limited to:

  • Lead and direct complex bespoke projects in the design of high quality products in Formula One

  • To be responsible and take ownership for projects from concept through to final implementation, going live, and handover to operational teams.

  • Manage parallel projects and project teams comprising of in-house developers and engineers, external contractors and development houses, plus liaise with other stakeholders including operational staff

  • Use lean but structured project management approaches in an agile, fast paced and exciting environment

  • Ensure projects are kept aligned with business interests, including on-budget and on-time.

  • Provide regular updates to both team and group manager on team/project progress

The successful candidate will have at least 4 – 6 years Project Management experience and has led a large, high-profile, multi discipline technical projects. You will also need to have a proven track record of end to end technical project delivery and experience of delivering projects in an agile environment.

It is essential to have experience of managing budgets, forecasting and dealing with suppliers, contractors and other third parties. You will come from a software or engineering background and have positively added to the role the capacity to lead and manage highly performing teams. As well as working in a matrix environment where project team members will come from various departments.

It is imperative to have the following knowledge and skills:

  • Good understanding of software estimating and planning

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills

  • Solid stakeholder management skills

  • Understanding of software and electronics disciplines to allow sound technical decision making

  • It would be an advantage if you have knowledge and a clear understanding of agile – in particular SCRUM and its benefits

  • As well as appreciation of at least a few of these areas: programming languages i.e Java, JavaScript, C#: Database technologies such as MS SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS and MongoDB: UML, SysML; CAD
