Your role is providing independent assessment and confirmation to senior leaders that projects are on track, are being appropriately managed, and align with ONS strategic objectives. This includes an integrated set of activities to enable scrutiny of projects to meet their objectives and benefits (as set out in the business case) and highlighting emerging themes and early warning indicators for corrective action to be undertaken.

Responsibilities

Portfolio Assurance 

Responsible for ensuring assurance standards are maintained across the ONS portfolio or projects. Key activities include assurance around: 

• Alignment with the business case; programme management processes
• Overall progress towards output in terms of time, cost & quality; stakeholder relationships & perceptions
• Final outcomes & lessons learned and benefits plans & realisation.

Insights

Overseeing the timely and accurate reporting to the Infrastructure & Projects Authority (Cabinet Office) for ONS programmes on the Government Major Projects 

Portfolio

Deriving insights from assurance and engagement activities to drive improvements in Programme and Project Management across ONS and wider government. Examples of this include:

• building project delivery capability, process improvements and exploring enterprise portfolio technology solutions
• Wider opportunities for engaging with, and deriving insights from, cross-government delivery profession groups and activities, such as the National Departmental Assurance Forum, and Cabinet Office-led improvement projects.
