Bristol City Council takes great pride in being a progressive local authority that isn’t afraid to take on large-scale challenges – which could explain why the city is consistently ranked as being one of the best places to live. Our ambitious Growth and Regeneration team are at the heart of this agenda, shaping the types of challenges that have the scope to be career-defining for all involved. And it is here that you could make your mark. Working on projects that are high-profile and deeply complex, you will witness the entire lifecycle of some of the most ambitious regeneration projects ever witnessed in this dynamic city.

Catapult your potential exponentially

We have a number of fascinating opportunities available, in which you will either play a lead role in the delivery of projects, including reporting and presenting to key stakeholders, or you will join a multidisciplinary team, working on a major project. Regardless of which path you take, you will tackle existing regeneration programmes and new initiatives, taking an instrumental role in supporting the management, development and delivery of high-profile challenges. With every completed project ultimately resulting in a better quality of life for our local residents and workers, this is an exciting opportunity to hone your project management skills under the guidance of senior colleagues and forge relationships with partners in the public, private and voluntary sectors.

Let us help you grow and develop

Putting the customer at the centre of every decision, we will expect you to work flexibly to ensure that targets are being met, and that our services are being improved in line with stakeholder suggestions – which all points to the fact that you will be a team-player with a genuinely open mindset. In turn, we will adopt this same mindset when considering your application. Quite simply, we know that the creativity and capability of our team is reliant on having a dynamic mix of people from all backgrounds, so we would love to hear from you if you have transferable project management skills from a relevant sector such as major capital, infrastructure or regeneration projects. Financially astute with good budgeting skills, you will understand procurement processes, and you will have plenty of tact when dealing with senior colleagues and politicians.

What you can expect

At Bristol City Council, we believe in acknowledging hard work, innovation and creativity with exceptional rewards packages. As such, you will benefit from a competitive salary, access to the civil service pension scheme, plus desirable optional ‘extras’ such as the chance to buy additional holiday. We are also committed to helping you plan for your future, so you will have access to progressive training and development opportunities, plus agile working practices and a great work/life balance. With all of this available in our welcoming and inclusive open-plan offices, this is a valuable opportunity to do something truly exceptional with your career.
