Project Manager

Newly created role due to expansion for a Deputy Head of Operational Planning. Reporting to the Head of Operational Planning, the successful candidate will take the role of site champion for the management of key strategic programmes, providing project management support and direction to the management team for the implementation of business changes.

You will provide an interface between the technical team, sub-contractors and other functions to ensure that projects are kept on schedule by facilitating the exchange of information and identifying areas of potential slippage and risk. The successful candidate will assist in the planning and execution of projects and take the lead on projects, where required, to ensure that all parties understand timelines, milestones, costs and technical progress.

This is a highly varied role and responsibilities will include -

·Reporting to the Head of Operational Planning (HoOP), working with the management team to develop, project manage and drive business programs.

·Be responsible for overseeing and managing project costs and alerting the HoOP and management team to variances in budget.

·Take on the role of primary site contact, as required, regarding communications, plans and updates for the business programs.

·Deliver KPI’s specific to business programs and report progress to the HoOP.

·Working with the HoOP, department heads and project stakeholders, drive the implementation of agreed changes from the outcomes of the business programs.

·Where required, e.g. during periods of vacation, assume line management responsibilities for the junior members of the operational planning team.

·Build and maintain close working relationships with other members of the Company.

·Lead and facilitate interactions with external consultants and companies as needed ensuring timely completion of activities and communication of reports.

·Lead all parties to the most appropriate optimised solution for any given project.

·Create and own GANTT charts and be responsible for timely execution of activities.

·Develop project milestones and incorporate into GANTT chart.

·Ensure that all cGMP and development projects are internalised and that milestones are aligned with the development & manufacturing GANTT charts.

·Ensure that projects are clearly understood by the technical teams and work with all parties to minimise any slippage to timelines and/or control of costs.

·Monitor any variations to the original projects and ensure that any change in costs are conveyed to the management team.

·Identify any areas that could lead to delays, lost revenue or increased costs and bring to the attention of the HoOP.

·For designated projects, lead the review of completed projects, ensuring that learning points are captured and actioned in order to drive continual improvement

·Identify and escalate potential risks in projects, working with the project team develop and implement fall-back scenarios.

·Assist to deliver the continual improvement of project management within the company’s global operation

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have a similar background in a project management / p operational planning management role managing multiple high profile, complex projects across multiple locations.

A background within a highly regulated scientific / life sciences / pharmaceutical manufacturing organisation is beneficial.
