An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic IS Project Manager to join our Information Systems Department to manage a project known as CIP 2, which is the refresh of our data centre hardware to the latest available technology.

Whilst the role is based in Shiremoor and travel to the data centres required, there will be the ability to work remotely due to the current Covid-19 situation and you will be provided with the relevant tools to be successful in your role such as MS Teams for collaborative working.

Along with a competitive salary of £40,000 - £45,000 plus up to 15% performance bonus, we also offer great benefits such as;

Key Responsibilities

You will be supported by the IS Programme Manager where required however you will take responsibility for the definition, approach, facilitation and satisfactory completion of CIP 2 project. You will identify, assess and manage risks to the success of the project, ensuring that a realistic project plan is maintained and ensure regular and accurate communication to stakeholders and vendors. Ensure Quality reviews occur on schedule and according to procedure. Manage the change control procedure and sign off. Provide effective leadership to the project team and take appropriate action where team or supplier performance deviates from agreed tolerances. Other responsibilities include:

· Working with our procurement team for the hardware and service purchases

· Establish a work plan and resourcing for project activities

· Assign duties, responsibilities and scope of authority to project personnel

· Organise, schedule and attend relevant project meetings

· Managing third party/vendor contributions to the project

· Continuously be aware of project risks and implement mitigation plans.

· Managing the project budget on behalf of the Senior Sponsor, or Programme Manager, monitoring expenditure and cost against delivered benefits

· Report progress, and results, in line with PMO requirements, good governance and business requirements

· Ensure project goals are accomplished and are in line with business objectives

· Continuously benchmark project management performance to identify improvements and achieve higher capability maturity in project and portfolio management

Key Competencies

· Ability to lead and motivate others, demonstrating empathy and knowledge of personality types

· Familiar with project management methodologies

· Financial management – Costs, and forecasting

· Sensitivity to working in an environment requiring interacting with senior leadership

· Verbal and written communication skills

· Expertise in setting and managing customer expectations

· Ability to develop and execute a project resource plan that ensures that the right people are in the right place doing the right things at the right time

Qualifications & Attributes

Essential Qualifications and Experience

· Practitioner accreditation and a good working knowledge of the Prince 2 methodology

· 2+ years of IT project experience in a large organisation (Over 2,000 employees)

· Management of project dependencies

· Working knowledge of structured project delivery methodology

· Experience of writing Business Cases

· Working with project planning and management tools

· Development and execution of a project resource plan

· Effective working knowledge of methods for financial management

· Working knowledge of change implementation planning and management covering configuration/release

· Project Reporting to the appropriate level of detail

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

· Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) Practitioner accreditation

· Experience and knowledge of Infrastructure upgrade project management

· Experience of implementing Waterfall Project Management methodologies

· Experience of working in a UK Utility
