The University of Sussex is a leading higher education and research institution. The University has developed a multi-million pound masterplan – a programme of investment to modernise and improve the campus so that we can provide the best facilities for our students, academic and professional staff, and the local community.   The masterplan provides a framework for the future development of the campus and includes a new student village consisting of 2,500 new student rooms on campus to support the University’s growth plans; and significant investment in the preservation of Sir Basil Spence’s famous listed buildings and surrounding landscape.

Reporting to the Director of Estates, Facilities & Commercial Services the Estates Portfolio Governance Manager will provide senior secretariat support to coordinate activities to ensure the appropriate governance and co-ordination of projects within the Estates and Sussex Estates & Facilities teams. Maintaining overall responsibility, you will be responsible for ensuring all projects are initiated through defined approved governance structures and act as secretary for governance structure committee(s) and relevant boards.

The successful candidate will be highly organised with a strong knowledge of Governance and Project Implementation and experience of managing projects within a complex, fast-moving, deadline driven, business environments.  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are vital. You will be resilient and robust and have the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to end users with varying technical competencies with the gravitas required to work effectively with senior managers at the highest institutional level.
