The Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA) is the government’s centre of expertise for

infrastructure and major projects. We sit at the heart of government, reporting to the Cabinet

Office and HM Treasury, to provide expert project delivery advice, support and assurance to

government departments and work with industry to ensure projects are delivered efficiently,

effectively, and improve their performance over time. A major element of our work involves

setting the strategic direction for the project delivery system in government with the aim to

improve project delivery performance; the key focus of the Strategy, Performance, and

Assurance Team who drive the Government’s commitment to deliver better, faster, greener.

The IPA Director for Strategy, Performance, and Assurance is a key member of the IPA

Leadership team, and provides a crucial interface with HM Treasury, who will lead the IPA’s

effort to assure the Government's most important and complex projects. As a specialist role

you will need to hold extensive experience of project delivery and Gated Assurance within

major projects and programmes.

Leading applicants will have a practice of using strategic thinking to take a future-focused

approach to continuous improvement through their considerable strategy and/ or policy

development experience. Both outstanding technical and communication skills are essential

to success as you will lead on the measuring, reporting, and trending project performance

data for the Government Major Projects Portfolio; this will enable you significant insights and

the ability to shape the landscape for years to come through project innovation and the

Transforming Infrastructure Programme.
