An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Building Safety team in the GLA’s Housing & Land directorate.

Following the tragedy at Grenfell Tower in 2017, a crisis has unfolded with many buildings found to be unsafe. The Government has announced a number of funding programmes to address this crisis and the GLA is administering this funding in London.

We are looking for a Programme Officer to support delivery of the Government’s Waking Watch Relief Fund, designed to pay for the installation of fire alarm systems in buildings with unsafe cladding. This is a high profile and urgent task which is central to achieving the Mayor’s vision that all Londoners should benefit from a safe, good quality home without facing additional costs.

The successful candidate will provide a vital support function for the programme and wider team. This includes monitoring and reporting on programme performance, assisting with processing applications and payments, and dealing with correspondence from stakeholders.

Technical experience and qualifications in fire safety are not necessary for this role. You will have experience of working on a complex project or programme, ideally on a high-profile funding programme or a housing-related project. You will be well-organised, good at building effective relationships with everyone from senior decision-makers to members of the public, and have excellent attention to detail.

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements. We would welcome applications from candidates who are seeking part time work as this role is open to job share.

In addition to a good salary package, we offer an attractive range of benefits including 30 days’ annual leave, interest free season ticket loan, interest free bicycle loan and a career average pension scheme.

To apply, please visit our website.

Application closing date: Sunday 25 April 2021 at 23:59 GMT.

Interviews will take place at: Via Teams on Monday 17 May 2021.

London's diversity is its biggest asset and we strive to ensure our workforce reflects London's diversity at all levels. We welcome applications from everyone regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, faith or disability.
