An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Building Safety team in the GLA’s Housing & Land directorate.

Following the tragedy at Grenfell Tower in 2017, an urgent and high-profile crisis has unfolded with many buildings found to be unsafe. The Government has established a number of funding programmes in response to this crisis and the GLA is administering this funding in London.

We are currently looking for up to five Senior Programme Officers to support this work for up to 18 months. These roles are central to achieving the Mayor’s vision that all Londoners should benefit from a safe, good quality home.

Senior Programme Officers will lead a portfolio of buildings through the application, assessment, contracting and funding drawdown process. This will require careful relationship management with complex stakeholders, including building owners, lawyers, technical advisers and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.

Technical experience and qualifications in fire safety are not necessary for this role. You will be an effective project manager with a track record of managing a busy and complex workload. You will have experience of managing large capital budgets and working with external professional advisers, ideally on a funding programme. You will be self-motivated and proactive, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to undertake complex problem-solving.

The GLA welcomes applications from those seeking flexible working arrangements such a part-time and/or job share.

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements. We would welcome applications from candidates who are seeking part time work as this role is open to job share.

In addition to a good salary package, we offer an attractive range of benefits including 30 days’ annual leave, interest free season ticket loan, interest free bicycle loan and a career average pension scheme.

To apply, please visit our website.

Application closing date: Wednesday 28 April 2021 at 23:59 GMT.

Interview date: Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 May 2021.

London's diversity is its biggest asset and we strive to ensure our workforce reflects London's diversity at all levels. We welcome applications from everyone regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, faith or disability.
