Shape the people strategy that drives our performance

The challenge

The Home Office’s mission is to deliver a safe, fair and prosperous UK. As well as working to reduce crime and enforce the law, we work to protect the vulnerable and have a proud history of providing refuge to those who have been displaced or are seeking asylum. Whether it’s fighting crime, protecting our borders or combating slavery, the Home Office is at the cutting edge of public policy and our work is some of the most challenging and rewarding in government.

The role

A strategic thinker, you will be responsible for ensuring the Home Office People Strategy reflects key people-related priorities within the organisation. Working closely with delivery managers, you will revise the strategy to meet future needs and ensure progress is monitored regularly, including through regular gateway reviews. You will also lead on the HR People Performance Dashboard.

Working for the Home Office

The Home Office is committed to representing modern Britain in all its diversity and creating a welcoming, inclusive workplace where all our people are able to bring their whole selves to work and perform at their best.

As well as the opportunity to deliver work that really matters, we offer one of the highest starting salaries in the Civil Service, an outstanding pension scheme with employer contributions of at least 26.6 per cent, flexible working, generous leave allowances and access to a range of other employee benefits.

About you

This highly influential role demands strong leadership skills and experience of developing and implementing HR strategies within large organisations. You will also have a track-record of producing dashboards for use by senior stakeholders. MSP or APMQ-qualified, you will have a strong grasp of project management principles including planning, risk management and benefit realisation management. Experience in conducting internal and external audits and gateway reviews to assure delivery against strategy is also important. Well-organised, with attention to detail, you’ll be an exemplary communicator with strong relationship-building skills and an ability to motivate others.
