The Challenge

DIO’s Regional Delivery United States Visiting Forces team are expanding and undergoing a large recruitment drive, and we want you!

This is an exciting time to join our diverse, unique and motivated team where we are seeking likeminded and talented individuals. Our roles provide a great sense of achievement and enrichment, by supporting accomplishing our teams’ outputs and goals based at various United States Air Force (USAF) bases.

No two days are the same as we support the United States Visiting Forces (USVF) in the UK. Our outputs include the delivery of works; developing and implementing DIO/US Civil Engineering joint policy and procedures and undertaking Estate Stewardship on behalf of the Secretary of State to ensure the estate is Safe and Legally compliant.

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented Projects Manager to lead a team of to deliver a portfolio of projects from cradle to grave, with an overall value of £50m. The projects will be varied in scope and value, £100k to £5m.

Job Description

Leadership and Management

  • Leading and managing the Project Management Team. Setting and managing the priorities and work of the team to ensure delivery of outputs.
  • Promote a positive, collaborative and proactive working environment within the team, and with key enabling functions (contractual and financial) and with other teams across DIO and MOD.
  • Develop your team and individuals to build capability and ensure appropriate succession and resilience plans are in place.

Customer Engagement

  • Ensure strong and collaborative relationships are developed with our customers, contractors and at site and user level to support effective communications and enable delivery of services. Understand and act on priorities and needs to ensure that our services are aligned.
  • Act on customer feedback, both through formal and informal channels. Establish and deliver action plans for systemic issues.

Service Delivery and Assurance

  • Managed and assure delivery of Services to meet customer needs and ensure value.
  • Validate and approve payments to the Business Support Team and Commercial colleagues.
  • Develop and deliver annual assurance plans to ensure that the contractor is in compliance with relevant legislation and contract deliverables.
  • Liaison and engagement with the Core, Technical and Assurance leads to ensure compliance with DIO policies and practices and to ensure appropriate technical advice.

Change & Efficiency Management

  • Manage Project change end-to-end to meet changing customer requirements based on the Core/Additional Work Services (AWS) Command Infrastructure Development Plan (CIDP). Ensure that change solutions are appropriate to the need and technically robust. Liaise with commercial and finance to ensure effective DIO scrutiny and support to business case development.
  • Major Project Delivery: Ensure effective & efficient delivery of major and high-profile projects.
