Senior Project Manager

Are you looking to work on a Project that makes a difference? Would you like to be a part of history?  Our Thales Ground Transportation System (GTS) have won a contract to collaborate on the delivery of the installation a new signalling and control system on the Four Line modernisation project. This will eventually allow the trains to be driven automatically, with a train operator in the cab to open and close the doors. The train operator will be responsible for managing customer information and safety.

Our Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to manage part of the project roughly to the value of £100 Million. The purpose of this job is to be the person in overall charge of a specific project to ensure the successful delivery of that project.

The role requires the ability to ensure effective liaison happens across a range of stake-holders to ensure that best practice is being applied, and that project management capability strengths and weaknesses are identified and managed. This will involve providing coaching and direct support to less experienced and less capable project managers.

It requires professional project management capabilities to be applied giving rigour to change control, commercial awareness and stakeholder management. The successful candidate will be someone who is comfortable with ambiguity, tenacious enough to shape solutions in complex environments whilst demonstrating the leadership to bring people along on the journey.

About You – skills and knowledge required

• Strong Project Management experience delivering on complex projects in a complex, multidisciplinary, multi-site organisation.

• The ability to directly & successfully manage project teams (including the coaching of project managers).

• Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to deal with customers, partners, suppliers and other parts of the business (stakeholder management skills).

• Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills with written presentation and report writing skills.

• Knowledge of a range of transportation solutions, including train control, communication and safety systems is desirable but not essential.

• Full business lifecycle management, including capture, qualification and developing capture plans and winning strategies.
