Programme/Project Manager - Universal Plasma Project
Cambridge
£45,753 - £51,668

Managing a pioneering research project at NHS Blood and Transplant, you will make a vital contribution to our important mission: to save and improve lives.

The Universal Plasma & Platelet project is a programme of work in partnership with industry and academia. Its revolutionary goal is to develop plasma and platelet products that could be transfused to any patient. This will have a truly transformative impact on the field of blood transfusion.

As Operational Programme/Project Manager, you will manage the project budget, coordinate activities across NHSBT and our partners, and ultimately ensure that the project is completed on time and in budget. We will rely on you to maintain, monitor and revise if necessary, a detailed plan spanning every aspect of the project. You’ll also manage a detailed register of risks and issues, and ensure that it is regularly reviewed. Senior management and the project funders will look to you for regular reports on progress. Along the way, you will also coordinate a host of meetings and prepare communications materials. You can expect regular travel, including overnight stays subject to COVID restrictions.

To be equal to this exciting challenge, you’ll need a relevant degree or equivalent experience, together with PRINCE-2 practitioner status or similar. You have proven experience of handling complex large scale projects, using formal project management tools - from the creation of business cases, through to programme closure. Ideally you will have gained this through managing projects in a science/healthcare background. Naturally, we will expect you to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of project management software as well as other packages, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Visio. As well as being highly organised, you will bring to the role a flair for innovative thinking and a commitment to continuous improvement. A highly skilled communicator, you have a talent for engaging and influencing all kinds of people.

In return for your dedication, you will enjoy our commitment to support your ongoing learning, training and development. From your extensive induction and throughout your time with us, we will support you to shine and excel in your role. You will also have the advantage of full NHS benefits.
