A bit about the role
As Assistant Project Manager, you will be responsible for creating and updating the progress baseline schedule plans and recording of progress, resource loading and expenditure as well as working within multidisciplinary project teams providing planning support to both the project team and clients.

We are currently looking for Assistant Project Managers for our following portfolios within Advisory; Energy, Defence, Water and Environment, Transport – HS2, Railways and Buildings – stadia, office fit, NHS/healthcare. If you are experienced in any of these areas, please specify in your application.

We are recruiting across the UK and in key areas such as; London, Leeds, Birmingham, Cardiff, Bristol, Cumbria, Reading, Swindon, Plymouth, Exeter, Cork, Dublin.

What your day may look like;

  • Demonstrate some project management and delivery experience;
  • High degree of commercial acumen and knowledge of planning and project controls
  • Developing knowledge and application of project management methodologies;
  • Comfortable working as a consultant within a client environment;
  • Relationship building skills –ability to build strong relationships with clients, teams and stakeholders;
  • Effective communication with client’s project team and business manager
  • Essential soft skills include self-motivation; taking initiative, adaptability and flexibility; effective listening, collaboration; insightfulness.

Required criteria for the ideal Assistant Project Manager:

Required;

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject
  • APM PMQ level qualified or equivalent (e.g. Managing Successful Programmes, PRINCE2 Practitioner)
  • Member of the Association for Project Management (MAPM)

Desirable (but not essential);

  • Project delivery experience within the water and environmental sector or similar technical sectors;
  • Experience in prioritising own workload and co-ordinating other team members;
  • Working knowledge of project management software
  • Knowledge of contracts including NEC
  • Good analytical thinking and research skills
