What you'll do

As a Datel Project Manager, you’ll work with a portfolio of customers through the full project life cycle. You will act as a bridge between our Sales Teams, Delivery Teams and our customers, managing concurrent projects to ensure they are delivered on time and to agreed budget, quality, and scope requirements.

You’ll follow our own methodology which is based on the Association of Project Management (www.apm.org.uk) guiding principles and frameworks.

This role will require occasional visits to customer sites throughout the UK at key project milestones when it is safe to do so.

What to bring

We’re looking for a customer-focused, self-starting Project Manager with the necessary skills to influence all project stakeholders up to and including executive level. The ideal candidate will be required to maintain and proactively manage risks, issues, and actions, and be responsible for tracking and managing their budget.

Your experience should cover project management, planning, status reporting, proactive RAID management, strong stakeholder management (of internal and external team members and Execs), progress monitoring, change management, and delivery to key milestones on time and to budget.

What we offer in return

You’ll work in a fast paced PMO Team consisting of Project Co-ordinators, Project Managers and Senior Project Managers, most of whom are APM qualified. The team are supported by a PSO (Project Support Office) who provides project administration and works closely with each team member. Within the team there are close to 100 years of experience, with most having over five years' length of service - a testament to the ethos in this friendly and considerate team.

Personal development is important to us, therefore you’ll have the opportunity to learn and grow in a supportive environment, at a pace suitable to you. You’ll have the opportunity to work on projects of varying length, complexity and scope, working with customers in a range of sectors and markets including food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, and service industries in wholesale/distribution. You will make short term project contacts and build other longer term more strategic customer partnering relationships.

Working location will be determined by the task and the project at hand, with a mixture of home-based working, travel to customer locations and our head office when required (and when a safe return is facilitated). The work demands frequent interactions with different teams and individuals which can be achieved through both virtual and face-to-face communication.

Our service delivery teams are headed up by Simon Newbon who, along with other members of the Exec Team, is heavily involved in our project delivery supporting the teams with his experience, knowledge, advice and guidance in difficult or complex situations. The teams have a proven track record of delivering successful projects and our excellent customer retention rates are the testament to projects being well sold and to the extensive knowledge and experience within the various Datel teams.
