We have an excellent opportunity to join our Estates and Digital Services Team where you will play a vital role in leading the design and delivery of the University’s estates projects, comprising major projects, minor works and the Long Term Maintenance programme. Working on an agile basis, you will enjoy a working approach which means that you’ll be both home and campus-based and in a way that helps deliver a more effective work-life balance than ever before.


In this senior and highly visible role, you will be responsible for managing the team that leads on the delivery of projects, consisting of project management and engineering support as well as the deployment of external consultants for specialist services. You will be responsible for ensuring that a range of complex and diverse projects are delivered within budget, time and specification. In addition you will be responsible for the development of processes and practices that ensure that projects are delivered in a timely fashion and represent value for money, including where necessary the adoption of innovative practices to improve the overall quality of the service.

About you

As the successful candidate, you will hold a Chartered in a relevant professional body e.g. RIBA, RICS, CIBSE and have a successful track record of managing internal and external teams to deliver successful and complex programmes of work. You will be able to demonstrate experience balancing cost, programme and quality in the successful delivery of projects and of getting the best out of contractors of all sizes and specialisms. Experience of working within the higher education sector would be advantageous but is not essential.

 

As a strategic leader, you will have the Inter personal skills to relate to all levels of staff and have the ability to plan ahead and ensure that goals, operational priorities and objectives are met. You will have the ability to work on own initiative, be self-motivated and proactive and be able to demonstrate the tenacity and commitment to deliver multi million pound projects on time and to a very high standard.
