Looking for a new adventure and a professional challenge? We have the job for you!

The Position
These are exciting times for the Falkland Islands, with the delivery of the ambitious aims of the Islands Plan. Suitable port facilities are an essential enabler for the economy, with approximately 95% of goods imported to the Falkland Islands shipped by sea. The Falkland Islands Government took a significant decision to award a contract to design and build a new port for the Falkland Islands in 2020, and is currently nearing completion of the ECI Concept Design stage. FIG is seeking a Senior Project Manager to manage the next stages of this major national infrastructure project.

Based in the Falkland Islands, and reporting to the Director of Development and Commercial Services, your role will be challenging and fast-paced. You will be responsible for management of all port project work streams for FIG, including management of FIG’s professional team and the appointed contractor, with teams split between the Falkland Islands and the UK. You will ensure that the project is managed to the highest professional standards; within a structured project framework, with robust governance and controls. You will act as FIG’s representative for all stakeholder engagement throughout the project, which will involve local industry sectors and the wider community.  You will lead on management of the project’s multi-million pound budget, management of risk and on development and implementation of a Communications Plan for the port project for FIG. You will also ensure that project reporting fits within FIG’s overall programme management framework. This is a challenging role, to ensure successful delivery of this high profile and critical national infrastructure project.

The Person
We are looking for a highly motivated, accredited senior project professional with experience of successfully leading and delivering major infrastructure projects— preferably with port or marine experience, but other major capital development project experience will be considered. You will demonstrate a strong track record of project delivery to a high standard within budget and agreed timescales, using recognised project management approaches. Experience of leading or working within a Government Major Projects Portfolio would be advantageous.

The Package

  • A Fixed Term Contract of up to 3 years, with potential for extension by mutual agreement.
  • Starting Salary (inclusive of eligibility for a 35% taxable gratuity) £68,540 up to £75,994 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience) rising to £102,882.
  • 30 Days Annual Leave, plus government and public holidays (totalling 41 days paid leave).
  • Relocation Allowance, to help with moving costs.
  • Flights Package for you and your accompanying dependents.
  • Government Housing for rent and a starter pack to help you settle in.
  • Favourable tax regime

Please note, successful applicants with Falkland Islands Status/PRP or a Falkland Islands work permit will be employed on local terms and conditions.
