Help shape solutions to one of the key post-Brexit border issues

About us

The Border and Protocol Delivery Group (BPDG) coordinates, supports, and oversees work by government departments and agencies to address challenges to post-Brexit border security, revenue, and trade. Our internationally recognised Operational Testing Team is responsible for delivering live operational tests of border controls.

About the role

You’ll head up a team that focuses on import processes for a large range of goods from the EU into GB, as well as the movement of goods to and from Northern Ireland. This involves engagement with a wide range of stakeholders, including overseas embassies and the EU. You will also establish and run a series of bilateral calls with key government departments including Border Force, Defra and HMRC. Managing the day-to-day performance of your team, you will oversee the production of high-quality project documentation and reporting at pace. Meanwhile, working closely with colleagues in IT assurance, you will ensure the inclusion of IT systems within operational tests wherever possible.

About you

You’ll bring excellent relationship-building skills, including the ability to foster trust and confidence with a wide range of people. You’ll also need outstanding project management skills, including experience of leading in a delivery environment. The capacity to design and deliver complex cross-Whitehall projects is essential, alongside strong analytical, drafting and briefing skills.  Experience of digital change projects would be a bonus, as would experience of a key borders area, such as customs or border security.

Benefits

We offer a range of benefits including a generous leave allowance, flexible working options, and a Civil Service pension.
