Commercial Project Manager - Bioenergy renewables sector. £50k - £60k plus 5k car and 10% bonus.

Your new company
Our client is an Independent Power Producer that is investing in the construction and operation of a UK based fleet of low carbon and renewable power plants fuelled with waste derived fuels. Due to growth they are looking to appoint a Commercial Project Manager to the business. The business plan is that the power plant fleet will be built up from a combination of the construction of new facilities and the acquisition of operational assets. Over an initial five-year plan, it is anticipated that the fleet will grow to between 10 and 15 plants, with a generating capacity of between 200 MW and 300 MW. They are a renewable energy provider that is developing one of the UK's largest portfolios of biomass and waste-to-energy facilities who have to date invested over £450m in facilities.



Your new role
This is a new role being implemented into the company. The purpose of the role is to support the current work of the commercial team to liberate additional scale and synergy value from its portfolio by identifying and delivering commercial opportunities. This role is critical to achieving success across all stages of asset platform, from its significant pipeline of growth opportunities, through to established operational facilities. Reporting to the Head of, you will also have significant interaction with the Executive Committee and the wider team as well as the various contracting partners through which the assets are operated.

The role will be nationally based from any of their sites, but with the option for home working.

  • Developing and implementing commercial optimisation opportunities across the portfolio.
  • Creating business cases and writing board papers.
  • Researching new revenue and cost saving opportunities.
  • Providing site-based support for commercial projects.
  • Managing the subsidy reporting and due diligence process for renewable accreditations.
  • Undertaking monthly revenue forecasts for power and subsidy revenues and completing PPA sales calculations.
  • Providing ad-hoc support to the commercial team as necessary.




What you'll need to succeed

  • Degree in STEM subject, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years experience in a similar or related role.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Commercially minded.
  • Proven data analytics skills and an ability to manage information.
  • Understanding of and commitment to safety culture and values.
  • Ideally have Knowledge and experience of working in a similar or related role within the bioenergy or waste management sector.
  • ideally have Knowledge of the UK's renewable subsidy schemes (including the Renewables Obligation, Renewable Heat Incentive, and Contract for Difference).
  • Understanding of commercial contracts within the bioenergy, waste management or renewables sector.
