Project Support Officer
Salary: £25,702

We have an exciting opportunity within RAL Space (part of STFC) for someone to join us as a Project Support Officer, where you will work across multiple projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team of scientists, engineers and project delivery professionals. This role will provide the opportunity for involvement across a range of different projects and has the potential, and scope, for career progression.

RAL Space is an integral part of the Science and Technology Facilities Council's (STFC) Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL). RAL Space carries out world-class space research and technology development with involvement in over 210 space missions over its 50+ year history. Our 330 staff are dedicated to supporting the programmes of the STFC, the UK Space Agency and UKSA and the Natural Environment Research Council as well as undertaking a large number of space projects for other UK and overseas agencies, universities and industrial companies. We undertake world-leading space research and technology development, provide space test and ground-based facilities, design and build instruments, analyse and process data, as well as lead conceptual studies for future missions.

Main duties of the role would include:

* Assist with, and maintain, appropriate systems to enable effective planning and scheduling of projects e.g. Microsoft Excel, Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Project.
* Assist in maintaining project controls and producing project reports.
* Take responsibility for project file management using robust version control.
* Organise key project meetings and provide secretariat support.
* Act as the focal point to external requests for project information.
* Assist with, and maintain, risk and issue logs, escalating as appropriate.
* Monitor, and proactively progress, bid/proposals through our bid management process.
* Download and present financial summaries to the project managers.
* Complete financial summaries for senior management reviews.
* Input data into earned value analyses of projects.
* Update resource needs in our resource planning system.
* Raise requisitions and monitor status of those orders.

About you:

You will be working across multiple projects at one time so excellent teamwork and a collaborative communication style is very important for this role. As is an ability to prioritise your workload. You will have strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent Organisational skills and data management experience with a high level of attention to detail.
