Project Manager

Our Project Manager role will see you join our high performing Wessex area facing project teams. You’ll be part of our project team delivering our organisation’s strategic ambitions; having the ability to develop a great working environment and be part of a high performing team working collaboratively with our supply partners.

Working on vital projects across the region, often focused on our flood risk asset management programme, you’ll take responsibility for the management of projects, either as the lead project manager or working alongside senior colleagues. You’ll use your project, contract, and risk management skills to facilitate collaborative and efficient ways of working, following governance procedures and decision-making as Project Manager.

Whatever the challenge, you’ll take on wide-ranging responsibilities: adding value at the initial strategic planning phase all the way into implementation, construction and delivery. You’ll use your excellent communication skills to develop and build a strong network of working relationships both inside and outside the organisation with Stakeholders and Partners, including supply partners, statutory authorities, local councils, landowners and local communities to support effective project delivery. This role will also involve contract management, report writing, business case development, risk management, cost monitoring and forecasting.

The team

We are Programme and Contract Management (PCM) Team, creating a better place through excellence in project and programme management. Our teams provide the Environment Agency with an effective project, contract, and programme management service. Our well-qualified staff manage projects throughout their lifecycle to deliver flood risk management, environmental improvements, and shared ownership with local communities.

Experience/skills required

Qualified to degree level or equivalent in an engineering, environmental or geography related discipline, you will have proven experience of contract and project management, ideally with civil engineering projects or similar. You will have a strong background of working with financial and commercial controls, NEC contract suites, CDM regulations and risk management, and can demonstrate how you have led teams to achieve multiple project benefits. Working knowledge of the Reservoir Act, maintenance, and repair of reservoir assets an advantage

You will be a passionate leader, able to build a great working environment and bring the best out of collaborative, often dispersed teams. You will be skilled in managing performance, delivering through others, building inclusive relationships, and championing continuous improvement.

Contact and additional information

Whilst initially the role will be remote in line with government guidance, the local area offices for each team are below and we are happy to consider applications from people wanting to be based in any of those offices.

Driving licence ideally required as some driving may be necessary. Occasional travel (regionally or nationally) and overnight stays required.
