The role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Project Development Manager to join a newly commissioned Campus Planning Team at a pivotal moment in the future shaping of the University Campus. The Project Development Manager will work with the Senior Project Development Manager to assist in the development of a capital ‘Framework’ plan (within an overall strategic plan) to assure the deliverability and feasibility of 1. specific emergent capital projects 2. a forward looking 15-year capital plan for the whole University Campus.

The role will lead on the scoping of key individual ‘emergent’ capital projects outlining likely timescales, costs and quality issues, as well as assisting the Senior Project Development Manager to develop a wholly integrated Capital (Framework) Plan. You will work effectively at the interface between Faculty/ Education and Professional Service needs and the strategic vision for the University. You will also take a team role in effectively and seamlessly managing the interface with the Capital Project Team responsible for capital project delivery.

You will work collaboratively as part of a multi-professional team (space planners, architects, data analysts, cost consultants etc) to develop and agree the deliverability of key capital elements of the Plan within the strategic aims of the University. The role will engage with significant stakeholders to achieve clearly defined outcomes.

What will you be doing?

You will assist the development of the capital framework Plan/Programme (under the guidance of the Senior Project Development Manager) to ensure the feasibility of individual (sometimes complex) projects within it – assuring they can be delivered within agreed limits of time, cost and quality.

You will work with the team to identify deliverable opportunities for development, advise on project-related objectives and obstacles, highlight deliverability or dependency issues, highlight project/programme risks, identify projected costs and timescales and ensure high degrees of active engagement with stakeholders, including with faculties, professional services, students/the student voice and external/third party bodies amongst others. In addition, you will be responsible for attending a number of relevant Workstreams and Groups.

You should apply if

You are passionate about multi-professional, collaborative working and making a difference in an environment of significant change. You will need to have experience of managing a range of capital projects and have excellent knowledge of project and programme management methodology with strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
