The Organisation

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) sits at the very heart of the Criminal Justice System (CJS), working in partnership with the police, judiciary, the Attorney General’s Office, the Home Office, the Ministry of Justice and other agencies throughout the CJS.  The CPS prosecutes criminal cases that have been investigated by the police and other investigative organisations in England and Wales. It is independent and makes decisions independently of the police and government.  The CPS is constantly adapting to the changing nature of crime and its vision is to be a leading voice in transforming the CJS, using its legal expertise and digital capability to make the public safer and build the confidence of its diverse communities. The CPS has a duty is to make sure that the right person is prosecuted for the right offence, and to bring offenders to justice wherever possible. This is important work at the very heart of our society and, as such, it rightly attracts intense scrutiny from all quarters.

The Role

The CPS is looking to appoint a Head of Victim Transformation as part of an ambitious and wide-ranging transformation programme that is dedicated to improving the service it provides to victims. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Head of Victim Transformation will deliver the programme and provide strong and visionary leadership across the organisation. Translating and defining the requirements of a new service model, the post holder will ensure the programme is aligned with current and future victim and business needs and work with key criminal justice partners and internal stakeholders to lead and manage a full system redesign. This is an exciting role with the potential to have a significant impact right across the criminal justice system and to deliver tangible benefits for the victims of serious crime.

The Person

To succeed as Head of Victim Transformation you will need to demonstrate a track record of successful project and programme management delivery within the public sector. You will bring lived experience of embedding customer-led service design within complex, multi stakeholder environments as well as experience of leading transformation and building a compelling narrative that supports positive change. Accustomed to delivering at pace, your knowledge of best practice programme governance and agile methodologies will support a culture of operational excellence, while core skills in communicating and influencing will enable effective partnership working at a senior level across the Criminal Justice System.
