At BEIS, we are leading the UK’s recovery from coronavirus and are building a stronger, greener country. Our varied work makes a real difference to people across the UK and internationally. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of the BEIS team and our exciting mission!

We lead on the UK’s commitments to tackle climate change and drive green economic growth. We support businesses to create jobs and increase opportunity in regions across the UK. We also encourage investment and innovation to make the UK a science superpower producing research that will improve lives.

Our Inclusive Environment

We are building an inclusive culture to make BEIS a brilliant place to work where our people feel valued, have a voice and can be their authentic selves. We value difference and diversity, not only because we believe it is the right thing to do, but because it will help us be more innovative and make better decisions.

We offer first-class flexible working benefits, excellent employee well-being support and a great pension. We are fortunate to have a range of excellent staff networks and are proud to be a Disability Confident Leader employer. We will support talented people from all backgrounds to build a career and thrive.

We actively welcome applications from anyone who shares our commitment to inclusion. We will fully support candidates with a disability or long-term condition who require adjustments in our recruitment process.
Would you like to join a critical programme for addressing climate change? In 2019, the UK became the first major economy in the world to legislate to have “net zero” carbon emissions by 2050, meaning we will no longer be a net emitter of greenhouse gases which contribute to climate change!
The Carbon Capture, Usage and Storage (CCUS) programme will deliver four carbon capture CCUS clusters, capturing 20-30 MtCO2 across the economy, including 6 MtCO2 of industrial emissions, per year by 2030.

CCUS will put our industrial ‘SuperPlaces’ at the forefront of technological development – accelerating decarbonisation in ‘clusters’, which account for approximately half of the UK’s industrial emissions. These clusters could have the opportunity to access support under government’s CCUS programme, which includes the £1 billion CCS Infrastructure Fund and revenue support mechanisms.

We are a friendly and inclusive team and place a strong emphasis on personal development. We welcome and encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds and are happy to accommodate flexible working arrangements for successful candidates. Our team works collaboratively with industry and other government departments to collectively advance CCUS deployment, both in the UK and internationally.

We believe that a friendly workplace nurtures success, so expect a sociable and positive team. Our varied team consists of professional programme managers, Subject Matter Experts and policy specialists. We encourage everyone to ask questions, put forward their ideas, and to be generous when sharing their knowledge.
