Ready to apply your project management skills in unique ways for UK and foreign friendly governments? If you’re passionate about delivering vital projects, confident managing a team and keen to get involved from start to finish, then we could have just the role for you.

FCDO Services provides construction, technology and logistics services to governments and institutions around the world. So when it comes to delivering projects, the work is varied and impactful. As a Principal Project Manager, you might roll out secure WiFi in government buildings or restore an embassy with important heritage. No matter the exciting project, you’ll be responsible for its end-to-end delivery, on time and on budget.

Deliver impactful projects on a global scale

Whilst based in the UK, you’ll have a truly global impact. You’ll work for UK and friendly governments overseas, managing the delivery of estates and security projects that’ll stretch your potential, develop your skills, and raise your profile. You know what gets a £30M project off the ground. So you’ll ensure that everything meets appropriate governance requirements, that design phases are managed, quality expectations are met, and projects are delivered on time. By paying close attention to budgets, risks and project programmes, you’ll ensure everything runs smoothly and your team overcome any challenges.

Shape your team and their impact

When you’re not managing the delivery of projects, you’ll manage people. And you’ll use your great communication skills to do this. Taking the time to build relationships, you’ll need to be someone who is responsive, reliable and easy to work with. It’s how you’ll work seamlessly with contractors and resolve issues with customers. When you’re not focused on delivery, you’ll put all your efforts into inspiring and leading your team of project managers. As part of this, you’ll meet staff utilisation targets and ensure everyone is meeting expectations.

Make the most of our potential – and your own

There’s plenty we’ll expect from our Principal Project Manager. Leadership skills. Organisational expertise. Project know-how. Not to mention experience in a similar overseas role, an understanding of CDM and Health and Safety and the drive to constantly deliver excellence.

But you’ll get a lot back, too. That starts with great benefits, including hybrid working, paid international travel expenses, a civil service pension, and more. Finally, and most importantly, there’s the sense of pride. At the end of every day, you’ll know that you’ve contributed to broader and important work that protects people, assets, and information all over the world. In short, it’s your job, bigger.
