Project Manager (Finance/Actuarial)
Edinburgh, Telford or Wythall (Hybrid - flexible)
Salary: Up to £62k dependent on experience. On target bonus 16-32%+ and other excellent benefits
Job Type: Permanent
Key Responsibilities
- Work with Business Lead, relevant stakeholders, and the programme team to scope, define and plan the project.
- Designs an appropriate workstream governance structure and source appropriate resources to ensure projects are adequately resourced; especially where resources are specialised and/or limited and therefore challenging to secure
- Use advanced tools and techniques to an expert level to maximise the benefits these tools can provide to project delivery. Be prepared to take personal responsibility for making difficult decisions often in ambiguous situations
- Implement and operate effective and robust governance and control environment in line with the Phoenix change management framework
- Produce and actively maintain good quality project/programme documentation, including plans, actions, decisions, RAID logs, change requests, incidents, and governance in line with the project objectives to ensure successful delivery
- Identify and actively manage stakeholders (typically up to Management Board/EXCO) to ensure project sponsor, steering group (including Executive) and other stakeholders are kept informed of project progress
- Develop network of contacts internally and externally to draw on and share best practice of project management
- Often working in a complex, ambiguous, high pressured and time constrained environment managing across multiple business units, third parties and strategic partners
- Effectively manage and influencing multiple and diverse senior stakeholder groups up to ExCo level. Collaborating effectively across both internal teams and external organisations/strategic partners
- Provide strong leadership and critical decision-making skills to support the organisation in both the delivery and the adoption of large-scale complex change
- Drive long term behavioural change across the business in effective planning, adherence to time, cost, quality targets
- Role modelling the appropriate behaviours to develop an effective working culture.
- Effectively managing programme and project teams with limited resources within a cost pressured environment
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Proven track record of managing projects/programmes including the appropriate management methodologies and techniques
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience of influencing senior level stakeholders
- Ability to work positively with the wide range of individuals involved in the projects/ programmes
- Strong leadership and management skills, able to create a sense of community amongst the members of the programmes
- The ability to find innovative ways to resolve problems
- Project/Programme level financial/ budgetary skills
- Experience of risk assessment and management principles and processes
Desirable
- Accounting or Actuarial qualifications and / or relevant experience within the financial services
- Experience of Finance or Actuary projects
