Job Title: HR Operations Manager

Location: Wiltshire (Hybrid Working)

Contract: 3-Month Contract

Rate: 45- 48/hr

About the Role: We are seeking an experienced HR Operations Manager to join a HR&OD service within a local authority in Wiltshire. This pivotal role reports directly to the Director of the service and is responsible for leading the HR advisory and payroll teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of the employee lifecycle, providing HR support and advice for both routine and complex queries.
  • Ensure alignment of HR services with the strategic goals, Workforce Strategy, and continuous improvement programs to deliver high performance.
  • Lead the HR Advisory team with a strong understanding of employment law and the professional credibility to advise and coach on workforce matters, including TUPE, disciplinary actions, grievances, absences, work performance, and consultations.
  • Manage the line management of Payroll services for schools, academies, pensions, and other organisations utilising these services.
  • Implement improvements and ensure the quality of outputs in HR and Payroll services.
  • Collaborate with team managers to manage workloads effectively, allocate resources based on demand, enhance professional skills and performance, and support the achievement of agreed objectives.

About You:

  • Extensive experience in People Operations/HR Shared Services.
  • Proven track record of providing professional and responsive HR support and advice.
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of employment law.
  • Experience in managing HR advisory and payroll teams.
  • Ability to implement improvements and ensure high-quality outputs.
  • Excellent collaboration skills to work effectively with team managers and stakeholders.
  • Professional credibility to advise and coach on complex HR issues.
