About The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Climate and Strategic Programmes division within the Communities and Strategy Directorate as Head of Transformation. You will lead our Transformation service, which is a team of transformation professionals supporting the organisation to deliver our ambitions, as set out in the Corporate Plan and Delivery Plan, to transform services to deliver better outcomes for residents and enable the council to save money and close the budget gap.

This is a high profile position - you will play a pivotal role in supporting and delivering our transformation portfolio providing assurance to the council’s leadership that the required standards, governance and rigour is in place for all transformation projects and programmes to enable successful delivery. You will additionally be responsible for developing quarterly monitoring reports for Cabinet and Overview and Scrutiny and developing and presenting monthly monitoring reports to the Corporate Leadership Team.

About The Team You’ll Be Working In

You will be a member of the Climate and Strategic Programmes divisional leadership team; a team who are absolutely focused on delivering the key priorities of the council as set out in the Corporate Plan and Delivery Plan. Climate and Strategic Programmes is part of the Community and Strategy directorate, reporting to the Assistant Chief Executive.

You will lead a team of transformation professionals, supported by the Deputy Head of Transformation whose expertise is in Service Design. The team includes Programme Managers,

Project Managers (of varying experience), Service Designers (of varying experience), a PMO Coordinator, Project Support Officers and a Benefits Realisation Manager.

One of the key areas of focuses for the coming period is development of the team as a centre of excellence for transformation delivery. We have developed a capability framework to support the team to understand where they are and the development they need to progress as a transformation professional. As part of this we are investing in training and development including apprenticeships, PRINCE 2 and MSP and a wider suite of in-house training delivered by the team, to the Transformation service and the wider organisation.

About You

You are a senior and experienced transformation professional with expertise in all aspects of transformation. As the functional lead for project and programme management in the Transformation Service you will have highly developed skills and experience in these areas. You understand what excellence in transformation delivery looks like and have the ambition and drive to make it happen.

You will have a track record of delivery of complex transformation projects and programmes. You are highly skilled at supporting your team and senior leaders across the organisation to shape and drive delivery of outcomes and benefits.

You will be passionate about the development of transformation capabilities within the organisation – both the systems and processes and the team whom you lead.
