RSSB is an expert body that helps the rail industry collaborate to continuously improve and meet future challenges. It spans the whole railway, including in its membership infrastructure companies, train and freight operators, rolling stock owners and suppliers to the industry. RSSB supports rail in the areas of safety, standards, knowledge, innovation and a wide range of cross-industry schemes.

This is a great opportunity to join our new projects Directorate which was set-up earlier this year in response to member and stakeholder feedback, enabling RSSB to work in an agile, cross-collaborative and efficient manner.

Responsible for creating a Centre of Excellence, you will ultimately lead RSSB towards being renowned for high quality project delivery to meet the rail industry’s needs to lay the foundations for a more commercial future.  A key part of the role will involve developing and implementing innovative ways of working to ensure a customer centric approach. This will include developing and overseeing all key PMO functions as well as evolving efficient reporting, risk and opportunity management and lesson learning processes. You will lead and manage a team, ensuring they are on-board and sufficiently upskilled to deliver against their plans for specific customer groups.

You will have an MAPM level or an equivalent professional standard, together with experience of leading a PMO and managing several projects/ programmes through different lifecycle phases. Experience of business or multi-project/portfolio management processes and systems is essential to success in the role as well as experience of managing project resources and leading improvement in line with good practice. You will also have experience of managing and successfully leading a team together with strong analytical ability and communication skills.
