Enhance the potential of the UK…
The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) is entrusted with securing the UK’s rural economy, supporting our farming and fishing industries, protecting the nation against natural hazards and enhancing the environment. It is a fascinating challenge and one that is supported by the newly-created Programme Management Office. This team defines how we approach and develop relevant policies, providing project guidance throughout the department to ensure resources are being used most efficiently and the desired results are being achieved. This team is particularly important as the UK negotiates its exit from the European Union, and it is here that you will plan and implement tools, techniques and processes to ensure your allocated projects are succeeding for the benefit of the nation.
Taking on a variety of projects, you will ensure they can be consolidated into one end-to-end strategic departmental plan. Travelling to projects around the country, you will assist in the creation of these plans, ensuring they are meeting relevant standards, identifying any areas that need improvement and tracking their progress. This is a progressive opportunity to take your career to the next level. As such, you will have at least three years of experience as a Programme or Project Planner with the ability to apply the relevant methodologies to major projects within a complex organisation. Adept at MS Project (2010 or 2013), it would be ideal if you are confident using Excel and Visio. You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to translate your work according to the needs of the specific audience or stakeholders you are engaging with, whilst working towards building an even brighter future for the UK.
