Programme Management Office (PMO) Support Officer
Be at the heart of the UK’s future…
EU exit is impacting on every government department, but none more so than the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). Nearly all of our areas of responsibility are in scope, with a range of legislation from the protection of the environment to the support of the fishing and farming industries. Across the department we are exploring new approaches and policies that will ultimately equate to a brighter future for the nation. As such, your work as a Support Officer in the newly-formed Programme Management Office (PMO) will prove crucial to the work of the department.
Working on a broad variety of challenges and PMO processes including gathering and reporting information to senior stakeholders, you will monitor the progress of projects and ensure those affected by decisions remain informed of these developments. You will also produce PMO papers such as action trackers and RAID logs, and you will review risk and issue logs, supporting the team in their operations. Benefitting from the unique opportunity to form relationships with key figures in Defra, you will therefore have exceptional communication capabilities, complemented by meticulous organisational skills. With knowledge of programme and project management methodologies (or experience of working in a relevant environment), you will also be competent in Word, Excel and PowerPoint. If you have an understanding of Visio, that would be an added bonus, but what is more crucial is that you are able to work at pace across a variety of high profile projects.
