Our client, an esteemed UK construction materials company founded in the 1950s based in Cheshire, stands as a prominent independent concrete product manufacturer. Operating strategically positioned manufacturing plants across the UK and an efficient national distribution, their dedication to customer satisfaction and ongoing product development establishes them as an industry trailblazer.

The role
A Production Operations Manager at their Widnes site. Reporting to the Divisional Group Director, you will be responsible for all production operations to ensure optimum performance at their fully automated concrete production facility.

You will take responsibility for:

  • Directing all production and maintenance activities
  • Managing and leading the workforce ensuring continual process development, optimising existing and future operational performance.
  • Identifying and proposing process improvements and managing small-scale and large-scale projects.
  • Overseeing and ensuring safety and environmental compliance.
  • Managing all stock and raw materials for the site.

What you need
It is ESSENTIAL for the successful Production Manager to have the following:

  • Holds an engineering degree or HNC/HND/Time served apprenticeship in mechanical or electrical engineering or similar.
  • Primary experience in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering - with technical understanding of both disciplines, ideally leaning more towards electrical bias.
  • Excellent leadership qualities and experience
  • Must have proven experience and knowledge of process control in a manufacturing environment
  • A minimum of 3 years relevant industrial experience, preferably in automated production.

Other DESIRABLE skills include:

  • High level of commercial awareness and product appreciation.
  • Experience of working in a high-volume automated production environment
  • A hands-on 'management from the front' approach to leadership

What is on offer

Salary ranges from 50,000 - 60,000, plus a car, with a 40-hour work week and annual leave increasing to 27 days (years of service), a profitability related annual bonus, and company pension.
