Position Overview: As a result of some internal development, Langfields are looking to add a Project Support Engineer to the team at thier facility in Dunfermline. This role will suit a candidate with a strong background in the fabrication sector who is able to read a technical drawing, lift off a bill of materials and get involved in the procurment and planning process.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
The Project Support Engineer is responsible for:
- Establishing good internal working relationships with all managers, engineers, supervisors and QA/QC personnel in order to ensure that all materials and services are procured in accordance with company and client requirements.
- Maintaining good relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure that materials are purchased with the most cost benefit and that good service is maintained at all times.
- General understanding and management of the procurement system within Langfields.
- Collating MTO s from approved fabrication drawings including all relevant material grades, sizes etc in readiness for gaining quotes from vendors.
- Responsible for ensuring that all materials are purchased on behalf of Langfields and their customers are clearly defined and specified. In addition, accompanied by the correct certification and meet the requirements of the relevant codes and specifications
- Arranging for best price and delivery to support contract requirements.
- Ensure compliance along with technical staff for certification and testing requirements.
- Expediting with suppliers and vendors of all material, services and consumables
- Advise and keep up to date the Sales/Estimating Department and other relevant parties of contract costs against budget.
- Continue to review products / prices and suppliers in order to improve / maintain quality and further reduce costs.
- Collating and issuing Project Specific Job Packs for the shop floor which include but are not limited to: Job Specification Sheet, ITP, Fabrication Drawings, Cutting sheets, templates etc. Weld Procedure Specification, Weld Log, Drawing Register.
- Any other duty which, from time to time, may reasonably be required to meet the needs of Langfields and is within the remit of this post.
- Compliance with and commitment to:
- Langfields Quality Policies and Quality Management System Procedures
- Ensuring the arrangements defined in the health, safety and environmental policies and procedures are implemented.
- Reviewing/undertaking risk assessments and ensuring controls are implemented.
- Co-operating with investigation teams to enable thorough investigation to be carried out.
- Undertaking safety inspections to ensure safety arrangements and control measures are complied with.
- Reporting to their Senior Manager on health, safety and environmental performance and advising of any areas where risks are not adequately controlled by the existing health, safety and environmental arrangements.
- Reporting improvements to the health, safety and environmental arrangements or control measures.
- Consulting with Managers and Supervisors on Health, Safety and Environmental matters.
- Promote improvement suggestions with employees on health, safety and environment matters.
Minimum Competency / Qualifications / Experience on Recruitment:
Relevant experience within Purchasing, Draughting, Project Engineering is preferred and experience with working in the fabrication sector.
