REPORTING RELATIONSHIP Head of Community Safety
JOB PURPOSE: To manage a range of projects focused on community safety across the Borough working closely with a range of partners in the public, private and voluntary sector.
To support the Head of Community Safety and the wider team in the delivery of priorities

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee the development, management and delivery of a broad range of strategic community
safety projects initiated from across the Council or externally by partners to exacting time, cost and quality requirements from inception to conclusion.
To deliver the principles of the corporate approach to project management. This will include establishing a framework for new projects; managing the delivery of identified milestones; directing and motivating staff; planning and monitoring projects; managing project risks and issues; managing dependencies with other projects and services; liaising with Programme Boards; and all the other functions of a Project Manager including project closure and post project review.
To work with colleagues across the Council and external partners to support the delivery of community safety priorities contained within the Darlington Borough Council Plan, local service plans and the Darlington Community Safety Partnership Plan (Apply online only).
To support colleagues in community safety and the wider partnership to deliver on their areas of responsibility associated with specific projects.
Act as first point of contact for and be responsible for the implementation of Community Safety projects as required.
Ensure that where necessary, applications and reports are produced within relevant timescales.
Give adequate and appropriate instructions, support, advice, coaching and mentoring as necessary on day-to-day operational work and technical matters.
To develop and promote effective working relationships with all key project stakeholders.
Complete inspections, sampling and audits and prepare reports.
To assist work allocation, advice and personal development of staff and relevant agencies on a project and personal development basis. Conduct formal training sessions where appropriate.
Respond to queries from members, businesses and the public and chair and support meetings as necessary.
Responsible for and manage allocated budget and invoicing in accordance with our financial regulations.
To represent the Council on all appropriate external bodies, community groups and relevant committees.
To develop strategies, policies and procedures across a range of services.
Develop and maintain close links through proactive dialogue and communication with key identified stakeholder partners at a National, Regional, Sub-Regional, and local level.
To actively engage with and report to the Project Sponsor ensuring that accurate, timely and relevant information is effectively managed and communicated.

To maintain effective liaison with all partners and organisations associated with the project, or potentially associated with project delivery.
To provide support and challenge to a range of stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of projects within time, cost and quality criteria.
To coordinate promotional campaigns with regard to projects and the wider community safety agenda.
Contribute to the achievement of targets, performance indicators and objectives in Community Safety.
Contribute to the production of annual service plans, other departmental and corporate plans and initiatives.
Behave according to the Employees Code of Conduct and ensure that employees in your team are aware of their obligations and responsibilities re. conflicts of interest, gifts, hospitality and other matters covered by the Code.
To promote and implement the Council s Equality Policy in all aspects of employment and service delivery.
To assist in maintaining a healthy, safe and secure environment and to act in accordance with the Council s policies and procedures.
Any other duties of a similar nature related to this post that may be required from time-to-time.
