Are you a talented future Project Manager?
As an Assistant Project Manager, you will support the Managing Consultant in executing various projects while gaining hands-on experience in project management processes and practices. Your role will involve assisting in the startup and delivery of larger projects and taking full responsibility for the startup and delivery of lower-risk, lower-complexity projects under guidance. You will play a critical role in meeting project time, cost, and quality requirements while managing risks and ensuring safety throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Launch: Assist in setting up project teams, securing resources, and mobilizing as part of the project startup. Organise project start-up meetings, establish effective communication channels, and contribute to the preparation of the Project Management Plan and delivery strategy.
- Scheduling & Budgeting: Help establish baseline budgets, schedules, work breakdown structures (WBS), and accounting structures. Set up and maintain cost control methodologies.
- Procurement & Subcontract Management: Execute procurement exercises, assess tender costs, select suppliers, and manage subcontractors following company processes.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Maintain records of project costs and commitments, track progress, and ensure resource usage aligns with the schedule. Produce periodic progress and financial reports, and hold regular progress meetings with customers and internal teams.
- Supervision & Safety: Supervise project teams and contractors to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards, both on-site and off-site.
- Risk Management: Identify and assess project risks, and develop and implement mitigation strategies.
- Tendering & Proposals: Provide input for tender responses, including estimating, scheduling, and risk assessment.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- A technical or science-based degree, or HNC/HND qualification with relevant experience.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in project management, including scheduling and cost control.
- Proficiency in MS Office, including MS Project.
- A full UK driver s license.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience working with regulators or in highly regulated industries.
- Familiarity with Primavera P6.
