Purpose of Role
- As an Assistant Project Manager you will be responsible for assisting the Project/Contracts Manager in manging projects from conception to completion assisting with ensuring that the project team deliver on time and on budget to the highest standard of quality, safety & client satisfaction.
The Role
- Assist with developing and updating the construction programme with the Project/Contracts Manager, ensuring that the project meets key milestones.
- Assist with the determining of staff resources for the project and that this is communicated effectively with the team.
- Implement the companies Safety System and establish an excellent safety culture on the project.
- Assist with Managing project quality over the lifecycle and ensure build quality meets expectations.
- Assist with ensuring project costs are managed and prelims / packages are tightly controlled.
- Work with the commercial team to assist with the delivery of agreed commercial objectives for the project.
- Maintain positive relationships with the client team; and assist with keeping them informed of claims & delays.
The Requirements
- Third level qualification in Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.
- 3+ years construction experience as an Assistant PM (Main Contractor experience required).
- 5+ years Main Contractor experience prior to Assistant Project Manage Role.
- Data Centre experience and a strong engineering background is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with the planning & delivery of complex projects.
- Strong numeracy and report writing skills.
- Ability to build & maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders.
- Understands commercial realities; proposes cost-effective solutions.
- Computer literate and familiar with MS office, project, (or similar scheduling package)
