We are working with a specialist construction & refurbishment contractor to recruit a Project Manager in Sheffield, South Yorkshire
Our client is a specialist in construction and refurbishment projects in the leisure and retail sectors and seeking to appoint a Project Manager in Sheffield. They work with a select number of key clients on negotiated contracts. Schemes range from around 250k to 2m in value and are either the refurbishment of an existing site or extension to an existing build. Typically, the successful candidate will be responsible for 1 to 2 projects concurrently, dependent on size and complexity. Project Managers are expected to take on the schemes from tender to client handover. Usually working from the office in South Yorkshire 3 days per week, visiting sites the other 2.
The opportunity would suit either an existing Project Manager or Assistant Project Manager, looking to take the next step up.
Key Responsibilities:
- Co-ordinate and plan project commencement from tender award with the commercial and delivery teams.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Work in conjunction with the commercial team, to appoint sub-contractors inline with the project budget
- Collaborate with clients, designers, and subcontractors to understand project requirements and expectations.
- Coordinate and lead project meetings, ensuring effective communication among all stakeholders.
- Monitor Site Manager performance on site and enforce compliance with safety regulations and quality standards on-site.
- Project and cost update against budget updates with Quantity Surveyor.
- Oversee project budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Provide regular project updates to clients, addressing any concerns and ensuring satisfaction.
- Proactively identify and address potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure timely completion of project milestones and final delivery.
Qualifications:
- Construction related qualification preferred but not essential
- Proven experience as a Site or Project Manager
- Knowledge of construction processes, methods, and materials.
- Sound IT skills. Eg understanding of how to read project budgets on excel
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
