Are you an experienced Project Manager specializing in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) looking for a new challenge? We have just the opportunity for you!

Our client is seeking a Project Manager to join a dynamic team responsible for the design, development, and delivery of new Battery Energy Storage projects, as well as other energy projects including Gas Peaking Plants. The successful candidate will manage various medium to large-scale projects, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery. This role will encompass a mix of site-based, home-based, and office-based duties.

Responsibilities

• Project Management: Oversee all aspects of construction, including civil, mechanical, and electrical installation and commissioning.
• Planning and Risk Management: Develop and implement project plans, manage risks, and ensure project objectives are met.
• Budget Control: Monitor and control project budgets to prevent overspending.
• Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure all projects comply with Health and Safety/Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations.
• Time Management: Ensure timely completion of projects.
• Electrical Design and Commissioning: Engage with third-party designers, consultants, and contractors for energy storage projects.
• Control System Design: Collaborate with third-party designers and consultants on energy storage and gas projects.
• Contractor Interaction: Work with Independent Connection Providers (ICP), Independent Distribution Network Operators (INDO), and Distribution Network Operators (DNO).
• Technical Relationship: Maintain a direct technical relationship with Battery Energy Storage suppliers.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Electrical Manager throughout all project phases.

Project Focus
Battery Projects: Involvement in behind-the-meter projects ranging from MW at 33 - 132kV.
Gas Peaking Projects: Management of front-of-meter 7MW Gas Peaker's at 11kV.

Preferred Skills and Experience:
Proven experience in cradle-to-grave project management within the UK renewable energy sector, including preconstruction, construction, and commissioning.
Strong track record in managing multi-trade site operations.

Technical Skills:
Proficient in project planning, time management, risk management, and budget control.
Knowledge of Health & Safety and CDM regulations.
Understanding of LV (AC & DC) power systems and basic knowledge of HV (33 - 132kV) power systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Project and AutoCAD (2D).

Soft Skills:
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 5 years in project management.
Education: Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship with knowledge of HV - LV systems.
Software Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D).
