Job Description:

Our client is a leading integrated and industrial engineering and manufacturing company that provide large scale solutions for the Industrial sectors including water control, bridges and transport systems.

Due to a future retirement, they are looking for the right candidate to take over in this role and hit the ground running.

Duties:

  • Control budgetary requirements within the company
  • Liaise with manufacturers and ensure everyone is up to date and understands their position and role within the project
  • Management and involvement with preparation of estimates, tenders, functional and technical design specifications.
  • Management of mechanical handling design projects from tendering to

commissioning.

  • Monthly reporting of project progress
  • Provide advice and work with team to resolve matters relating to quality, costs, work schedules, supply chain and technical issues as required
  • Manage customer expectations, in-line with company priorities and capabilities.
  • Accountability for project performance
  • Monitor, review and prioritise work schedules with the team
  • Identify, manage and mitigate project risks
  • Ensure each project runs as smoothly as possible in line with the proposed plan

Requirements:

Experience

  • Customer facing experience.
  • Experience of managing technical / engineering personnel.
  • Experience of project and contract management
  • Experience of estimating and tendering.
  • Experience & understanding of complex mechanical systems for large moving structures
  • Experience with NEC Contract Conditions

Knowledge and Skills

  • Qualified to minimum HNC in mechanical engineering.
  • A proven track record in managing complex mechanical engineering projects.
  • Preferably with knowledge and demonstrable background in the design and application of mechanical handling systems across a diverse range of large turnkey engineering projects.
  • Knowledge of current statutory legislation.
  • Computer literate, confident in working with Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Microsoft Project
  • Presentation & written communication.
  • Effective liaison with external bodies.
  • Effective record keeping.
  • Man Manager & Effective Communicator
  • Understanding and implementation of the requirements for the European Machinery Directive
