Job Title: Operations Manager (Refinery / Chemical / Petrochemical / Oil Refining / Refining Production Units / Power / Top Tier COMAH)

Location: North West

Salary: Six-figure salary plus outstanding benefits

Job Summary:

Kin Tec has been retained to find an experienced Operations Manager ready for the next step in their career. We are representing a well-established company known for its excellent staff retention, now seeking to hire due to an upcoming retirement. This role offers a significant opportunity for growth within a dynamic and challenging environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, Environment) regulatory requirements, including Risk Assessments and Permit to Work (PTW) systems.
  • Efficiently and effectively manage the operations department within budget constraints.
  • Professionally manage operations personnel, maintaining a proactive and constructive relationship with the Union, and actively participating in collective bargaining negotiations on behalf of the company.
  • Promote and support competency and capability development within shift teams through collaboration with Shift Supervisors, maximizing individual and team performance.
  • Develop and implement a proactive succession planning strategy for shift operations, including staff movement and recruitment to ensure sustained operational capability in both the short and long term.

Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree, preferably in Chemical and Process Engineering.
  • Over 10 years of industrial experience, with at least 5 years in a senior Process Engineer / Operations Manager role within a petrochemical, oil refining, or chemical industrial environment.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Proven experience in leading teams, ideally in shift operations, with a solid understanding of operational procedures and processes.
  • Practical experience in applying and complying with HSSE and EA Industry requirements relevant to refinery operations, including workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and process safety systems.
  • Experience in interacting with individuals at all organizational levels, from frontline staff to Directors.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities and progress multiple work strands simultaneously.
