ESS Recruit s client is a well-established Mechanical Engineering business. They place great emphasis on their ability to quickly and effectively respond to their client's needs. Currently, the company is seeking a highly experienced Operations Manager to join their team and contribute to their continued success.

Job description

The role's primary objective is to guarantee the delivery of 100% compliant products to clients within specified timelines, while also ensuring strict adherence to health, safety, and quality standards. Another key responsibility is to enhance the company's working environment and processes in order to optimise the delivery schedule. This involves close collaboration with the planning function to devise more efficient processes and instill a culture of continuous improvement. A central focus of the role is to improve workflow, work visibility, and communication across the shop floor. Additionally, nurturing a knowledgeable, well-trained, and motivated workforce is vital to the role's success.

Key Objectives of the Role

  • Providing a working environment that is compliant with relevant HSE legislation and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Complying with relevant industry and customer quality standards.
  • Cascading planning information to the team including now and next boards on the shop floor.
  • Ensuring on time delivery.
  • Regularly updating employees on production matters both in verbal and written format.
  • Removing in-process barriers and bottlenecks.
  • Identification of training needs for existing and new employees to enable them to complete their required tasks.
  • Ensure records are maintained to show the training completed.
  • Maintaining morale and team spirit in accordance with company values.
  • Any other duties as reasonably required.

Success will be measured through production KPI s, which may alter from time to time but as a minimum will include on time delivery, customer returns and NCR completion.

  • Have prior experience in operational management
  • Efficiently communicate both verbally and in written form
  • Have comprehensive knowledge of quality control and quality assurance principles
