A world renowned acute specialist paediatric hospital based in central London.
Your new role
To efficiently manage and coordinate reactive maintenance services across the Trust, taking a lead in providing technical and operational support in the absence of the Head of Estates. Responsible for ensuring the implementation of relevant policies and standard/emergency operating procedures, as well as compliance with health and safety regulations and statutory requirements. The job holder will demonstrate strong management and leadership skills and possess in-depth knowledge of complex Electrical and mechanical engineering services within the healthcare sector. The role involves overseeing electrical and mechanical maintenance operations, which are carried out by estate maintenance staff and both internal and external contractors. This is to ensure a safe and secure environment that operates with optimal efficiency while staying within the available resources.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Degree/HND or Foundation degree in a Mechanical, Electrical or Building Discipline and/or equivalent specialist knowledge acquired in a post graduate qualification and/or experience to masters level acquired through specialist courses and experience
  • Membership of a Professional Institution e.g., IHEEM, IEE, IET, I.MechE, CIBSE.
  • Specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and practice in Mechanical Building Services or Mechanical Engineering
  • Certificate in Management studies or evidence of management/leadership training
  • Significant experience of Estates maintenance and knowledge of associated Health and Safety and compliance systems and processes
  • Significant experience of maintaining building services within large, complex sites and managing senior technical staff
  • Experience of line management and supervisory responsibility for directly employed staff and contractors working on defects and PPM on technical; Electrical, Mechanical, or Building disciplines found in an acute hospital environment
  • Must have extensive knowledge of relevant HTM's, HBN's and legislation as it applies to building and engineering services
