Project Manager

FINTEC recruit is recruiting for a Marine Engineer / Project Manager for ship repair projects. This is a permanent role, salary commensurate with experience plus benefits. Working 39 hours per week Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m finish 2:30 p.m. on Fridays, Overtime available, paid at enhanced rates.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage ship repair projects
  • Driving productivity and efficiency, coordinating all production to execute work specifications
  • Optimise resourcing levels, monitor performance and outputs, be commercially aware
  • Interpret technical specification, identifying variations to specifications and align costs for approval
  • Manager all subcontractor, labour, consumable and material costs, accountable for project P&L
  • Conduct regular inspections of work areas, identifying and eliminate any hazardous conditions or practices
  • Be aware of company accreditations, ensure work is carried out with OH&S Management systems.

Skills and experience required for the Project Manager role

  • Strong leader, highly organised, ability to motivate and to engage with a variety of stakeholders at all levels.
  • Have a good working knowledge of Ship repair and or heavy engineering
  • Experience of preparing detailed variation costs for customer submission.
  • Experience of evaluating sub-contractors and supplier quotations.
  • Able to Chair Project Progress Meetings and other meetings as required.
  • Must be able to understand and interpret technical specifications and drawings.
