Due to continuous growth, we have an opportunity for an Operations Manager to join our Operations Team.
Operations Manager - The Role:
To oversee and manage all aspects of the Bilsthorpe waste transfer station and oil treatment plant operations with the introduction of visual management, workplace organisation, 5S to help drive continuous Improvement and to ensure the safe, efficient and effective day to day running.
Operations Manager - Key Responsibilities:
• Health & Safety and Environmental Compliance
o To ensure all site activities are compliant with Environmental Permit and health and safety requirements.
o Ensure safe, compliant and efficient utilisation of all operational assets.
o Investigate and promote the reporting of Near Misses helping create a safe working environment for all site users.
• Operations
o Evaluate and continually monitor operational performance, with clear KPI s across all operational activities.
o Working closely with the Transport team and external third parties, ensuring that all loads are accepted in a timely manner with a customer service focus.
o Coordinate on site operational projects to ensure consistent priorities and approach for all operators.
o Responsibility for asset management and maintenance, including a register for safety critical equipment.
o Develop and encourage a culture of continuous improvement and consistency across all sites, setting and tracking progress against clear objectives.
• Commercial
o Responsible for the operational P&L.
o Responsible for delivery of operating targets both operational and financial.
• Communications and teamwork
o Foster a culture of collaboration and clear communication within and outside of the operations team.
• Leadership
o Develop a high performing team culture.
o Provide strong leadership for operations team.
o Set clear objectives and targets for operations team, ensure regular reviews.
o Accountable for the performance management and development of employees within defined area of responsibility, including completion of the 6C Performance Review Process. Developing Individual training Plans to help support the needs of the business.
o Responsible for all aspects of resource management within defined area of responsibility, including planning, resourcing and recruitment.
Knowledge, Training, Experience, Technical and Personal Skills:
Required
• IOSH Managing Safely.
• WAMITAB COTC Hazardous Waste Treatment and Transfer level 4.
• Experience working within waste industry most desirable, however, alternate with relevant experience will be considered.
• Proactive and safety focused approach.
• Hands on and methodical, organised with attention to detail.
• Good people manager, proven experience of leading operational teams.
• Highly organised with the ability to prioritise effectively and to plan and manage own agenda.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective and positive working relationships within and outside of the department.
• Highly focused on delivering results and objectives with a strong personal commitment to supporting the business in achieving its goals in a changing environment.
• Logical in approach with the ability to analyse data and formulate action plans.
• Must demonstrate high levels of integrity and adopt a professional approach in all interactions should be transparent, open and honest in all dealings.
• Experience in implementing lean production.
• Experience in implementing kaizen in production management.
• Experience of asset management / maintenance.
• Experience of managing / implementing change control processes.
• Strong PC and technical knowledge and skills with a good working knowledge of the Microsoft packages including Word and Excel.
Desirable:
• NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) as a minimum, experience with operational safety including completion of risk assessments and procedural documentation.
• Experience of behavioural safety / culture change.
• Degree level qualified (or equivalent).
