Why You Should Apply?
Career Progression: Opportunity to progress to Operations Director in two to three years.
Lead a Collaborative & Friendly Team: You'll be part of a close-knit team where your contributions will be valued, and your leadership will help others thrive. This role allows you to mentor and develop others while being a key stakeholder in the business's success.
Make Your Mark: You'll be fully responsible for the efficiency, quality, and budgeting of projects from inception to delivery. This is your chance to directly shape the success of the business and see the tangible results of your hard work.
Job Security and Innovation: This award-winning business is on a strong growth trajectory, providing a secure environment backed by a commitment to innovation and a portfolio of blue-chip customers. You'll work with modern technology in a supportive, forward-looking business culture.
What you'll do as the Operations Manager
- Work with your team to oversee all factory processes, ensuring smooth processes across production, quality, cost and achieving on-time delivery to customers.
- Lead initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce costs, making a real difference to the company's bottom line and customer satisfaction.
- Develop your team to their full potential by fostering a collaborative and productive team-first culture.
- Contribute to strategic decisions, including capital expenditure and operational expenditure investments.
- Liaise with customers in partnership with the Commercial Manager to ensure seamless order fulfilment and delivery.
- Be a source of knowledge and support to people across the business, leading by example and setting the standard.
- Champion health, safety, and environmental sustainability.
What you need to apply for the Operations Manager position
- Leadership: Extensive, well-developed team-first leadership skills with a proven long-term successful track record of working with all types of people, helping them to achieve their potential (for themselves and the business) and having empathetic but challenging conversations, if required, around performance or attitude.
- Process Management: A well-established background in managing workflows, increasing output and reducing errors. Owning problems, delivering solutions and originating new ideas.
- Financial Management: Significant documented experience managing costs, including improving margins, creating business cases for investment, and reducing costs.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to be clear about standards and flexible when working with the team and customers. Strong upward communication skills, with the aptitude to work with the Directors on strategic decision-making and communicate decisions as your own, not from "upstairs".
- Software Skills: Must be fully conversant with main Office 365 packages, with the proven ability to use Excel to analyse data, gain insight from it, and visualise it in meaningful ways for the team to make decisions. Ideally, experience with ERP/MRP systems and their implementation.
- Small Business Skills: Experience and understanding of working within a business with less than 200 employees but ideally less than 100 employees. Ability to assess the current workflow and use skills to create solutions that fit the company's current size while allowing future growth.
About the Operations Manager remuneration package:
- Salary: Competitive depending on skills and experience.
- Benefits: A performance bonus of up to 10%, 33 days holiday including bank holidays and shutdowns (holidays increase with service), interest-free loans, a cash healthcare plan, access to discounted electric cars via Octopus and a company pension scheme.
